We first got to know the firm over 10 years ago, through a common client of ours, Hardix B.V., a fireworks dealer. Initially, it was because the firm was working with Hardix in the permitting phase on their plans to build a number of firework bunkers in warehouses they were leasing from us. Two days before the permit was to be issued, the fireworks disaster in Enschede happened, so the permit was cancelled and they had to go through the whole permitting process again. At that point, it became clear that we, as owner of the buildings in question, had to take the lead, and that's when our contacts started getting very intensive. Between us and the firm, we were able to get the administrative wheels turning a lot faster, but what we did succeed with was breaking through the wall of delay that the official side had put up at that point. And so, the permit was issued on April 23rd, 2003, without having to go through any legal proceedings, and that was certainly thanks to the expert advising and support by Meester. It was our cooperation then that made me decide to go back to Meester when we had in issue with a lessor cancelling one of our leases in Groningen. We had established a sandwich bar in the place, and the lease hadn't even lasted long enough to recoup the start up costs. Meester arranged a meeting between two parties, and the result was that at a minimum the lessor would compensate the investments and startup losses we had incurred. All in all, as this shows, we have only ever been happy with our contacts with Meester Attorneys.
